About Nichole Caswell
Nichole is a Registered Social Worker and registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She holds a Master’s of Social Work Degree from the University of Toronto.
Nichole has a undeniable passion for working with children, couples and families. Her internship and work experience at the Reach Out Centre for Kids in Milton and Family Counselling and Support Services in Guelph has uniquely prepared her to deal with a wide range of individual and family issues. During her time there she also co-facilitated groups for Violence Against Women, Women Childhood Survivors of Sexual Assault, Child Witness, Bereaved by Suicide, and Partner Assault Response (PAR).
Nichole has helped countless children and families struggling with attachment, trauma, parent-child conflict, separation/divorce, parenting, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, sexuality and gender identity, ADHD and more.
Nichole also knows first-hand what it’s like being a parent in a blended family and what it takes to make family life work. She’s a mother to both her 9-year-old daughter and 4-year-old step-daughter. When working with other families, Nichole draws from her personal experience supporting her daughter through mental health issues, challenges at school, and learning disabilities. She knows parenting can be a struggle, but also delights in the quiet breakthroughs her daughters have on a day-to-day basis. She brings this practical perspective to the families she works with.
Nichole has an amazing ability to connect with both children and families and develop treatment plans that take the entire family into consideration. Kids love to see Nichole, and she works collaboratively with parents to include them every step of the way in learning how to best understand and support their children’s individual needs.
Nichole draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches suitable for children, adults, and couples. She’s completed advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Intergenerational Trauma Treatment Model (ITTM), and Narrative Therapy.
Nichole is also a certified personal trainer and fitness enthusiast. She integrates the importance of physical health as part of her overall approach to increasing her clients’ emotional health.
When Nichole isn’t working, you’ll likely find her with family and friends doing some type of physical activity or travelling. Nichole has traveled extensively around the world and loves to discover new cultures and different foods. She hopes to travel more with her family and has many more countries on her bucket list!
