About Rebeccah Harder

Rebeccah Harder is a Registered Social Worker with nearly 10 years experience in the mental health field. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), and holds a Master’s of Social Work Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Rebeccah offers a wealth of experience helping adults, families, and youth. In addition to supporting people through anxiety, depression, and family issues, she is highly experienced in working with people who’ve experienced or witnessed trauma. Rebeccah helps her clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.

Rebeccah has devoted herself to understanding and helping adult and youth survivors of trauma. With the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Team at St. Mary’s Hospital and Cambridge Memorial Hospital, she helped individuals deal with the impacts of sexual assault and domestic violence. Rebeccah also draws from her own recovery as a survivor of PTSD and traumatic loss when helping her clients.

Rebeccah’s experience with youth and families began at the Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin as a Youth Justice Counsellor and Youth Mental Health Diversion Coordinator. There, she provided direct counselling to youth on probation and assisted youth on mental health diversion orders.¬†With the Huron Perth Children’s Centre she provided further support to youth and families for a variety of issues including: self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexual assault, anxiety and depression.

Rebeccah also understands the challenges youth and families can face when it comes to addressing school related issues. Thanks to her experience at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, she’s highly skilled at helping families develop strategies to encourage school attendance while addressing underlying issues. No matter what the issue, Rebeccah believes in working closely with parents in support of their children’s therapy.

Rebeccah has an amazing ability to connect with both adults and youth. She draws from such evidence based treatments as Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Rebeccah is also trained in Level 1 and 2 EMDR and has completed an 84 hour Trauma Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier.

Outside the office, Rebeccah shares her love of dance as a ballet and acrobatic dance instructor.
